PSFA, or the peninsula school feeding association, is one of the largest children’s feeding charities in South Africa. I had the pleasure of working on their social media management team in 2022.
A critical aspect of our social media strategy was to create a sense of community and involvement among PSFA’s followers. We wanted to foster a relationship between the organization and its supporters and make them feel part of something meaningful. We achieved this by regularly sharing user-generated content, such as photos and stories from PSFA’s events, as well as featuring testimonials from people who had benefited from PSFA’s programs. This helped to build trust and loyalty among PSFA’s audience and ultimately contributed to the organization’s success in raising awareness and funds for their cause.
In addition to news and events news, we would run educational and informational content to build community, increase engagement, and draw attention to issues that had a crossover with their purpose, which may bring in relevant audiences.
These posts were inspired by a UN national day and were posted 1 day a week to between the standard fundraising and internal news related posts.
Many organizations’ media primarily aim to present themselves as authorities in their given field and promote their cause to potential donors or sponsors. We recognized the importance of conveying PSFA’s credibility and expertise in children’s feeding programs to their audience. To achieve this, we created content that showcased PSFA’s initiatives and achievements and highlighted the challenges they faced and how they were working to overcome them.
